Terms of Service

Effective date: 13 June 2026

Important. MCADS is a research and demonstration system. It is not a certified medical device and must be used only under the supervision of a qualified medical professional. The developers accept no responsibility or liability for any use of this tool or reliance on its output.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By accessing or using the Multi-label Chest Abnormality Detection System (MCADS) demonstration (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (the “Terms”). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.

2. The Service

MCADS is a demonstration platform that applies machine-learning models — including BiomedCLIP and TorchXRayVision — to chest X-ray images in order to highlight possible radiological abnormalities and to support triage workflows. All outputs are probabilistic estimates produced for demonstration and research purposes only.

3. Not a medical device; no medical advice

The Service has not been reviewed, cleared, certified, or approved by any regulatory authority, and it has not undergone clinical validation. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Nothing produced by the Service constitutes a clinical finding or a recommendation to take or refrain from any medical action.

4. Professional supervision is required

The Service must be used exclusively under the direct supervision of a qualified, licensed medical professional. Its outputs are intended only as a supplementary aid and must never be used as the sole basis for any diagnosis, triage decision, treatment, or other clinical action. All clinical decisions remain the sole responsibility of the supervising medical professional, who must independently verify any information before acting upon it.

5. Permitted use and your responsibilities

You may use the Service only if you are authorised to do so and only for lawful, non-commercial demonstration or evaluation purposes. You are responsible for ensuring that any image you upload may lawfully be used for this purpose. You must not upload personally identifiable patient data or protected health information unless you are lawfully authorised and have obtained all necessary consents. Sample images suitable for demonstration are provided in the Google Drive folder.

6. No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. The developers do not warrant that any output is accurate, complete, or free from error.

7. Disclaimer of responsibility and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developers — Paulius Bundza and Justas Trinkūnas — and Vilnius Tech accept no responsibility and shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or other damages, loss, harm, or injury of any kind arising out of or in connection with the use of, or inability to use, the Service or any reliance on its output. You use the Service entirely at your own risk.

8. Data and privacy

Images submitted to the Service are processed solely to generate analysis results, and usage activity may be recorded for audit and security purposes. Because this is a demonstration system, you should not submit confidential or patient-identifiable information. The developers are not responsible for any data you choose to upload.

9. Intellectual property

MCADS incorporates third-party models and libraries (including BiomedCLIP and TorchXRayVision) that remain subject to their respective licences and terms. All other rights in the Service belong to its authors. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works except as expressly permitted.

10. Changes to these Terms

The developers may update these Terms at any time. Any changes take effect when published, and your continued use of the Service after that point constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Lithuania. Any dispute arising from them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Vilnius, Lithuania.

12. Contact

For questions about these Terms, contact Paulius Bundza and Justas Trinkūnas (Vilnius Tech) at bundzapaulius@gmail.com.
